Professor de filosofia moral a les universitats de Cambridge (1928-53) i Knightsbridge (1953-67). Analitzà l’estructura de les teories físiques i aplicà la teoria dels jocs als problemes morals. És autor de Theory of Games as a Tool for the Moral Philosopher (1951), Scientific Explanation. A Study of the Function of Theory, Probability and Law in Science (1953) i An Empiricist's View of the Nature of Religious Belief (1955).
