Recorregué Europa fins a Polònia i Rússia. Escriví poesia i teatre i, sobretot, llibres de viatges, entre els quals Descriptive Travels in the Southern and Eastern Parts of Spain and the Balearic Isles in the Year 1809 (1811), on parla de Catalunya, Mallorca i Menorca.
